I’m getting a lot of comments on my blogs regarding the blood moons and the Shemitah year, mostly very good. One person – and only one – thought I was mocking the signs that Jesus gave us in Matthew chapter 24. On the contrary, I take these signs very seriously. World Impact Ministries exists to participate in seeing Matthew 24:14 fulfilled.
However, I am mocking all the nonsense about doomsday in September 2015. There is nothing – absolutely nothing – in the Bible about Shemitah years and the end of the age and nothing about Blood moons on Hebrew feast days.
Did you know that the fourth blood moon on Sept. 28th will not be visible in….Read Full Article
The doomsday prophets are at it with new intensity and Christians are too easily caught up in the frenzy. Websites, including those representing major publications and large ministries, are peddling the latest “prophetic” tips on the cataclysmic events about to unfold in September 2015! Here are some headlines that caught my eye today….Read Full Article
Another end- time prophecy prediction cycle is about to have run its course. The one gig is up September 13th and the other one on September 28th. I’m talking about the theory of the Four Blood Moons and the Shemitah year (also called Shmita year). If you haven’t heard of it, don’t worry, you haven’t missed anything. In fact, you’re in good company – neither Jesus nor any of the apostles had heard of it either.
Some will argue, why not let preachers just be preachers. Aren’t wild end time predictions, that turn out to be all wrong, what preachers do? Yes, I would go along with the “let boys be boys idea”, except I’m disturbed. Another couple of years will have been wasted, with large segments of evangelical Christians caught up in deceptive nonsense, distracting us from….
Some have been with me in this study since we started five weeks ago. If you just caught this last little devotional, go back over the previous ones and meditate on the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the world. The Holy Spirit works with us, in us and through us. I close this teaching by answering a few more commonly asked questions…Read Full Article
Questions and answers are a classic way to learn important truths about God. In some denominations this is called catechism. Here are some more questions commonly asked about the Holy Spirit….Read Full Article
Here are some questions that I’ve been asked about the Holy Spirit.
Is the baptism of the Spirit necessary to be saved?
Does the baptism of the Spirit with speaking in tongues make people more spiritual?...
we’ve looked at Jesus’ words that the Holy Spirit will persuade people concerning sin righteousness and judgment [John 16:8 – 11]. The last of those three words is judgment. We don’t have to second guess what Jesus meant, because he added…Read Full Article
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit convicts the world about “righteousness, because he [Jesus] has gone to the Father”. Many miss the whole point here. They act as if the Holy Spirit was supposed to talk about unrighteousness, but that’s not the topic. No, the Holy Spirit persuades the world about…Read Full Article
If we think it is important to give the gospel to people, we do well to ask the obvious question: how does the Holy Spirit relate to the world, especially those who do not know Christ.
There’s no higher authority to answer this question than Jesus Christ, who said that the Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment [John 16:7 – 11]. This could mean different things to different people. Fortunately Jesus explained exactly what he meant by these three words:.....
On the day of Pentecost the first sign that the believers had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit was that they spoke in other tongues. Sometimes, speaking in tongues has been ridiculed and minimized, and believers have failed to benefit from this gift, which is designed to strengthen us inwardly. Others drive the car into the opposite ditch and make speaking in tongues the main thing.
Speaking in tongues is the first sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but the greatest sign is…Read Full Article
