Florida pastor causes fury and embarrassment

By Peter Youngren

I knew Terry Jones 15 years ago. At the time, he was pastor of a large church in Germany; and for a couple of years, he invited me as the guest speaker for their summer convention. He was a pretty radical man back then.  I didn’t feel entirely comfortable, and when he invited me for a third time, I didn’t go. Still, I never expected Terry Jones to cause so much fury. This week, just about every news site in the world has reported on his “Burn the Koran” day, scheduled for September 11th. Jones claims to want to honor those who died nine years ago, and send a warning to radical Islam at the same time.

According to an ABC report, Jones’ church in Gainesville, Florida, had about thirty worshippers last Sunday, but size is no deterrent, as even the president is paying attention.  White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, said that the anti-Islamic protest could endanger the lives of American soldiers. His words were echoed by General David Petraeus, who stated that images of a burning Koran would incite violence around the world. Similar condemnations were issued by the US embassy in Kabul, the NATO Secretary General, and the US State Department, who went a step further, “This is inconsistent with American values. In fact, these actions themselves are un-American.”

Hopefully, by the time you read this article Jones will have stepped back from his reckless behavior. General Petraeus stated that the Koran burning could potentially damage relations between the West and the Islamic world, much like the photographs showing the abuse of Muslim inmates at Abu Graib prison did four years ago.  My guess is that if anything could sway Jones, it would be a word from the military.
Jones appeals to his constitutional rights and certainly any citizen of a free country is able to buy a book and burn it, if he so desires. Constitutional rights aside, Jones currently carries a holster with a .40 caliber pistol—just in case.  His bank has demanded an immediate repayment of the $140,000 balance on the church’s mortgage; and the church’s property insurance has been cancelled. Jones certainly has painted himself in a corner by stating that he believes Jesus would have joined in the Koran-burning project.

My concern is not Terry Jones. He is an extremist, and most people would not want to be associated with his inflammatory rhetoric. To me he is an embarrassment. Still, I suspect that he has more silent supporters than one might expect. Why are many of those who follow the Prince of Peace so quick to attack and condemn? It’s not just Christians fighting Muslims, but Christians fight other Christians, shoot their wounded, all the while, beating their breasts in self-righteousness.

Last night Grace TV aired “Confessions of a former Muslim-hater.” My guest described how he got caught up in a militant type of Christianity where one feels free to condemn and hate. There is no reason to belittle the grave differences between Islam and Christianity, but maybe we should also look at what we have in common. The Koran has much to say about Jesus; he was born of a virgin, he is the Word of God, the Messiah, and he will be held in honor in this world and the world hereafter. Astonishingly, the Koran also depicts Jesus as the only sinless prophet. Islam’s holy book refers to Jesus ninety-seven times, even more than the prophet Mohammed is mentioned.

King Solomon wrote, “Any fool can start a quarrel.” Terry Jones is a good example. Just speak evil of others, and soon you’ll have a fight on your hand. Solomon continues, “A wise person makes friends.” Whether Jones goes ahead with his Koran burning day or not, make no mistake, his proposed action doesn’t represent Jesus. Two thousand years ago, Jesus exemplified the principle Solomon had articulated. Jesus befriended Jews, Samaritans and Romans equally.  Maybe it’s time for Muslims, Christians and Terry Jones to take another look at Jesus.

What about the right to free speech?
While I personally agree that burning books is meaningless, It is America, and the pastor has the right to self-expression, whether or not the rest of the country agrees with him or his methods.
I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal. People have burned politicians in effigy, the American flag, the Bible and other books, put a crucifix in urine, etc., and no one blinks an eye. Surely someone was offended by that—so why should the Koran be given any more consideration just because Muslims might be offended by it?
So while they do disagree with the pastor burning the Koran,  (as matter of fact seems nutty as a fruit cake.) they have to support his right to free speech and dissent, just like they have to support others’ rights to free speech even when they are the once being offended.
If America deny him the right to do it, they are on a dangerous, slippery slope of denying everyone else free speech, too.
Just my take on it.

Right on! I wish more Christians would read your book “My Muslim Friends” Peter, and see Jesus’ heart for the Muslim people.
Terry Jones needs to understand the humility and love that Jesus walked in. He is not bringing any honor to Jesus but trying to bring it to himself.  He that says He abides in Him (Christ) ought himself also to walk even just as He walked (1 John 2:6).  I do not see Jesus having a Koran burning party. Instead I see Jesus appearing to Muslims showing them love, healing them and being a friend to them to win them to Himself.

Dear Peter… thank you for your message of balance and grace. We all know that love is the heart of Jesus. Whether or not Jesus’s name is in the Koran is immaterial. What counts is loving our neighbors. You’re right, many times the “church” struggles to do that right within its own ranks. We are to be a “friend” to all. Christ died for all.
Thankyou again for providing a focus, and let us join together in praying for peace, and for light to dispel darkness, and for Christians to reflect the light of heaven…in thought, words, and deeds.

Thanks Peter for sharing your view about this, but actually I am not much of a t.v person so I had just heard about this pastor.  Right away it was so astonishing to my ears about what was being said by him, since he is a pastor and a christian.  Right away I thought oh no, a third war is much more practical now between the two religious influences.  I so agree with what you wrote, and how can people call themselves Christ followers when they carrie hate towards others.  Surely Jesus was lover not a fighter and we are to follow his example.  I know alot of muslims who believe in Jesus as a prophet but not though he was the messiah.  They are decient caring individuals that seem to have a more loving outlook towards others then some who claim to be christians.  So it was most certainly shocking to hear that from that pastor.  We are living in a very incrediable time and I can’t wait to see God move in this era of time.  God is love but He is the only righteous one who can judge and so we as believers just need to keep our eyes on Jesus.

Jesus commands us to go into all the world and preach the gospel. I wonder if burning the Koran is sound doctrine or the work of an evangelist or preacher. Burning of the Koran is not part of the Gospel because our warfare are not canal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. Burning koran by pastor Jones is going to create more strong holds and trouble. As christians we need to endure sound doctrine, but not our own lusts or what we think of which does not promote good news or please our master. Burning of the Koran is not going to honor the people who died on 11 September.

And yet it was not Gabriel who communicated with Mohammed, but Satan, which makes Islam a product of the devil.  You can tell from the oppression and aggression of Islam that Islam is of the devil.  Islam is intended to deceive people away from the Truth.

Pastor Peter thank you for comforting me as a member of the gospel of Christ. I knew that disrespecting other religions is not Love at all; and I am very happy to awake to the good news that Pastor Jones has stepped down from his antics.
I live in Brampton Ontario, which is the fastest growing south Asian population in all of Canada; and I love it. My neighbours are celebrating the end of Rajmadan and I love seeing them dressed up in their lovely colours; I even compliment the female on how beautiful they look. We sometimes get together and share food. What a wonderful relationship to have as Christian and Muslims. I am glad to know that that relationship will not end.

I thank God for your influence in this world Pastor Peter.
The Lord continue to bless Grace TV financially in all its endevours.

Thanks Peter for starting this talk.
I also got supplised and wanted to know if my brother is in the right way ; or if he is onother instrument of hate- satam - who may currently be used to promote himself instead of Jesus who is Love !
The Word of God tells us to do to others what we would love them to do to us . Is that the best example my brother could give to our Ishmail brothers ? If God blessed them, who are you to conderm them ? The judgement remains in the hands of our Creator !

Jones create a problem for the Christians living in Pakistan. We are facing lot of problem.Every Christian in Pakistan is praying because Muslim will attack on Christians and especially Pastors. The news on the local channel in Pakistan are not good.Muslims are protesting and angry on Jones comments. Jones is not a wise man.He never think about the reaction.I think the missionary work in Pakistan and other Muslim countries will be effected and for other Pastors from European countries came for Gospel meeting will not be easy in future. He must think about it.

Peter, I agree that burning the Quran is not the best way to honor the victims of 9/11. On their church’s website, Pastor Jones had said that he also wanted to alert Americans to the dangers of islam. While we can look at what the two religions seem to have in common about Jesus, the reality is that Muslims need salvation. All their outward ceremonies do not save their souls. 1 John 4:15-If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.

Right or not right Pastor Terry Jones expresses from himself without fear and according to me I give him right because when they christians in what we can call muslim country no one reacts. Christians are not flyers to kill anyway and any where we are people of the true God by Jesus Christ the Saviour of all the world. When we speak for Gospel we speak for salvation not at all. I sustain Pastor Terry Jones because building a mosquee in front of Ground Zero is an insult to the memory of peace people who died on the September 11, 2001. We have to refresh our memory not sleeping in our mental, spirit or body. Islam is violent when you affront according to the Bible ans explain them the truth they become pityful so we christians we have to take care. On tv they talk about Terry Jones church with only 40 persons the Bible says if one is save the angels rejoyce in heaven. To have one person or 4O persons even if all the world is not a problem the problem is to impact someone who will express Christ nature and stand for Gospel around the world one, 40, all the world. Why we christians are afraid when speaking the truth is needed in muslim countries you can not build a church but this shit muslims are going around insulting the Kingdom of God, attacking the churches even if they are crazy and foolish people. Oh the accurate time is over let’s open our mind. Christianity is not religion but the entire life of God manifested but the King of kings Jesus Christ to lead us to our Father, to teach the truth and to show the way. In Harmaguedon Jesus Christ is the winner not religion, notr Mohamed, or Budha and name like this only Jesus Christ. Let’s open our mind. Stop Killing the Christians and let us spread Gospel in order to save all world. By myself I am not afraid for muslims, terrorists, pagans, animist, magicians, vodoo man but I am afraid when someone is lost for ever go straight in hell.Pastor Terry Jones is right.

Preach it, Brother Peter!
Too many wars have been foolishly started in the name of religion. But real Christianity isn’t about religion… it’s about three other ‘R’ words: ‘Redemption’ through a ‘Relationship’ with the ‘Rock’ known as Jesus Christ ... and Him alone! Oh Hallelujah!

In every vision I had, that Jesus gave me, He showed me in a very powerful way, Jesus Loves Every Person On This Earth as if each person is the only person, no matter what they have done.
So in this situation, all I can say: Jesus Is Love, and let Jesus be in total control in us and through us.

how tolerant do we have to be towards muslims. they can do and say whatever they want and no one blinks an eye. most everyone is afraid to insult a muslim. we all know there plan. i do not believe to hate, when push comes to shove you know were they stand, for there false prophet and false god. .what bible are you reading,. i keep praying for you .even after everthing.. now i give you to the lord.

I agree with you Peter on the Jones Issue.Wish the body of Christ (that still sees itself as self) would behold the finished work when they look into a mirror and see they are as Christ is now in this present world. My wife and I live in a very hard area for people to see this. Although we go to the streets, prisons, churchs, resthomes, wherever, the offence of the cross is there as Paul and Jesus said.(and Im sure you know).
Keep teaching my Brother you are making a big diffrence, Thank you!!!
Would Love to fellowship with you !

I do not agree with this man’s plan. The way I look at all this controversy is if the story of his plan had never been reported on the news very few people would have ever known. Sometimes I think the media should just keep quiet about things like this. Just my opinion!

That’s strange and dangerous that the world is so frightened over burning Koran. What a big deal! The world is terrorized by Muslims - that’s the problem!
Nobody cares that the Christians are killed all around the world, the American flag, the Bible and other books are burned. That is not the problem?  What kind of world is it?
I am not for burning Koran but I am not for burning Bible either and killing innocent Christian and training children to commit suicide.  We should put one measure to all.

Ben
~ Colmar, Alsace, France

Even if we know that God is love and Jesus Christ is the true God express of love He never sends humans being to terrorise each one. We christians we must stop living with fear. Sodome and Gomorhe were against Gospel on the former we know what’s happen for those countries. The Sauls of Tarsus of this world will be stop by the King of kings. Let’s Truth who is Jesus Christ leads our paths and guiders us in the right way but not be frightened by the killers who couldn’t express or touch by God love. Salvation and religion are two different things so I know salvation comes from Christ. We shouldn’t nclose oue eyes and clake our hands when the terrorists want to use violence as you show on the Seeptember 11, 2011; maybe you are not concerned but I am. And USA must reconsider his policy for this what we can call muslim countries. Let’s open our minds. If we ned slavation we need Jesus Christ that all.
God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indonesia is 230 million population and 80% muslim, so as a local christian we struggle every day every moment in living Christian values, but we want to endure that and we want to keep showing to our neighbors that Christ is the God of Love. I see many turned to Christ because of our lives touch them, Christ’s love touch them. We can do that and we do not need to burn anything. Those who were moslem, now as Christians, admit that the Holy Spirit and even Jesus Christ speak to them and minister to their needs.
We still have persecutions in several aspects, such as hinderance in building a church, imprisonment or even murders in some cases, but as His Words comfort us “So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall. Isaiah 55:11”
We just believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Amen

Hello on this Blog,
I have awaited to express my opinion on this fanatic Rev. Jones, one should ask the question when God says “Pray for your enemies” does it mean the radical islamists, you can never understand God’s plan for humanity, we did not understand it then when Jesus arrived to proclaim himself to be the deity, everyone wanted him killed!. What if God’s plan is for all humanity to be saved and now the radical islam is only a key player to achieve this - let me be honest on the day of Sep 11th I heard the voice of God to pray for bin laden, well am I wrong ?, I dont believe I will ever know until he returns and its all over. But until then I believe I heard his loving voice (in my spirit) and I did obey, this teaches me the lesson that no matter what you go through HIS LOVE is never ending and the worst of all Sinners are entitled to His Love, I believe that the Whole World will see Salvation in Jesus Christ. To claim HIS LOVE - rev Jones was wrong. Let me know what you think about what God could ask of you, is it legitimate ?.

Peter, i do not agree this man i also said that love is give us the people and they respect given us our , but better solution is loveing people is very important for us and nothing the fire or stickness are rule in our life we give the love and we take the love , we give the burn, and we take the burn

By the time the western world will realise their seemily religious/Islamic tolerance,it will be too late. Ask the people who live in countries where Christians are slaughtered everday and everywhere without the least provocation, you will know that the actions and reactions of today’s Muslim tolerance is a disaster waiting to happen. We shall all see how blind we were.
But I don’t agree to the burning of the Koran. But let us put it this way, let the same number of Churches built in the Islamic world be equivalent to the same number of Mosques in the Western world , at least in a ten year period, then we will be able to see, who is fooling who.

I have a son in law in the military, In a Country that is not happy about any of this. I am a child of God ,and I would be mad if someone burned my bible or a copy of it. I don’t agree with burning flag , books , or anything. no more then I agree with false prophets and Chopping off heads of our Military men and Women. There truly is a time for all things a time for war a time for peace, A time to speak a time to be silent . But God Will say when this time is if idiots have enough in them to read the Holy Bible, the written word of God Almighty   And do what it says . This was a childish act and one that could have cost lives of Our Military. We have been a free country so long that the ones we oppose are more in Number then those of us born here. I am ready to go home God is sick of men and women standing for stupid acts and not Love as he commanded I am angry This man needs a refresher course on the Word. Sorry is a sad thing to say to a Mother of a Son or Daughter that has been Killed for nothing. As God he has heard it from time to time not near enough .Jesus Son of God died for us I pray for this man and all others that have forgotten to Love .

I agree with you Peter that we don’t have the right to put anyone down but that also works both ways. We don’t have the right to put Terry Jones down either. There’s a fine line between judging the person and judging the matter. Christ is the author and finisher of our faith and if Terry Jones is one of Christ’s then Christ will finish his faith also. Although I don’t agree with Terry Jones’s statement I know that I also fall short many times in my walk with Christ but I also know that He is faithful to complete the work He started in me.

i agree with you pastor, we shall win the Muslims and bring them to the Christ by our testimony, character and righteous ways.
Due to this act of terry Jones, there is lot of burning of church and bomb blast outside the churches in Pakistan which has not been telecast up till yet . This is way to disturbance over the entire world. that’s true in Koran Jesus is mentioned briefly and it also says about the life, miracles, dead and resurrection of Jesus which Muslims take it in a other way of His resurrection.

Shalom, Ps Peter. I know very well that Christians never teach people to hate others, but we should share love to others according Matt 22 : 39. Non Christian can only be touched by Christian’s love, if we want to share the Gospel & want to reach as many people as we can. Ps Terry Jones’s action will make difficult to people in mission field all over the world, especially in the Moslem Country. Let we share Christ’s love in sharing HIS Gospel to bring salvation around the world.

I respectfully disagree with Peter. As an act of corporate woprship and repentance the city of Ephesus burned all of their books which opposed the truth of Christ in Acts 19. When George Washington was head of the DC school system there were two books allowed in the class… a science primer and a Bible. Now, the US has allowed every sort of wicked text into the hearts and minds of the collective and burning them is a Biblical act of national and corporate repentance.
May I also remind Peter that the official faith of Canada is Christianity and the “Oh Canada” is an actual prayer. If God is going to keep our land “glorious and free” perhaps the next Q’uran should be burned by you, Mr. Youngren.

Peter Wrote…
“The Koran has much to say about Jesus; he was born of a virgin, he is the Word of God, the Messiah, and he will be held in honor in this world and the world hereafter. Wow! I have personally studied the unholy Q’uran more than most Muslims and let me assure you, it is NOT talking about the Jesus of the Bible. Muslims believe Jesus was just a man, did not die on a cross, and did not atone for sin. So I don’t know why Peter has lost his spine on this issue but we don’t have to hate Muslims in order to hate Islam. It’s a strawman to suggest otherwise. Now… where’s my lighter?

Brother Peter’s excercise in bringing the facts to light is very much appreciated.  I am sure any sane person will not contribute to the thoughts of burning Koran.  Muslims need not get agitated by the utterences from a fellow citizen just because he has made some foolish attempts to befool others.  Let us forgive the author of ‘Koran burning’ venture and forget the whole episode.

For a slightly different perspective, if the Korans he plans on burning (and has since decided not to) is an english traslation (which it probably is) then he really isn’t burning the Koran, just a translation of it.  For Christians this arguement seems silly but to a Muslim any type of translation of the Koran is Not the Koran.  Only a Quran that is written in classical aribic actually counts as The Qruan and as such Muslims should not be up in arms about this happenstance.  Seeing as how every Muslim I have ever talked to is very much aware of this tiny bit of knowledge they should have no problem at all using a translation of the Quran for kindling seeing as how it is only a translation and not the real deal.
However if pastor Jones was actually going to use aribic qurans then there would be a problem.  But not a large one.  Culturally the quran has to be placed on the highest shelf in a house to show that it is above all other books and in like fasion you’re not to put other books on top of a quran if it were to be lying on a coffee table, again a repect thing.  So there seems to me that there is a huge disconect between what muslims know about their book and what they are telling the rest of the non muslim world about their book, because if it is really just about respect, a muslim knows that a non muslim is less trustworthy and less respectful than a muslim(generally speaking). After all we are quit a degenerate bunch.  So the muslim world should expect, at least in a general sense that non muslims wont respect all things muslim in the same way as one of the faithful. Therefore muslims should not get upset when non muslims behave badly towards their prophet, their book, or their traditions.  It should be expected really.  That said respect is a two way street and burning either translations/actual qurans is not a good way to engender respect.  That said the muslim faith (in its purest form, under sheria) does not respect any other faith and in fact activly and systematically does its best to ensure that everyone becomes muslim if not in this generation then in the following ones (everything becomes so much easier if you only convert).  Knowing this I have much respect for muslims but no respect for the muslim faith because all muslims are people and all people have inharent value.  You can respect the person, and respect that they believe what they percieve as truth, while not respecting the belief system its self.  So if everyone treated each other with respect while allowing for decent, the world would be a much happier and much more safe place to be.

Peter’s blog is helpful in providing a model of how we can communicate with those who strongly disagree with us and build bridges of friendship.  For example, Peter begins by openly acknowledging “I knew Terry Jones 15 years ago” ... and is transparent about the specific details.  Peter provides a fact-based summary of the different perspectives and issues ... in a respectful way that always leaves the door open for dialogue ... and provides an opportunity for every reader to think through their own hidden biases and come to a mature more compassionate and more balanced point-of-view.  It all comes together in a focus on who Christ is and how Christ reconciles us with one another as well as with God.  This is what it looks like to build bridges of friendship across cultures and world views ... and I can see how Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists etc are receptive and welcoming to this approach.  I would encourage folks to reread this blog and think about how Peter approaches this topic ... we can all use this way of communicating to reach those who we could see as our “enemies”.
Thanx Peter ... it’s very helpful to see what Christ’s love and wisdom looks like lived out in the midst of controversy ... am I right in thinking that the 9-11 ground zero memorial and the proposed mosque would also be a relevant topic for everyone to reflect on Christ’s inclusiveness and “no discrimination” and what that looks like lived out today?  :)

Just a reminder who we are in CHRIST not labels of the world, I like the part when a man is born again he becomes a government official from the Kingdom of Heaven ISAIAH 9:6 instead of a religious man like terry jones, I strongly believe that when you are appointed as an Ambassador of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20) you must be led in the dessert (Isolated/No Human Contect just you & The King) the process (Character/Attitude) with GOD (Matthew 4:1). I don’t really blame on terry jones he doesn’t have the understanding of his position as serving the King but rather he is serving a religion, in religion you can debate/argue/wage war/protest or even change God’s will in this case but the Kingdom of Heaven you Obey. I’m not here to judge anyone but one thing I see God turning it around is in Ephesians 6:11-18 Your Equipt with the whole Armor of God and your holding the Sword of Truth and then you would think in this verse your ready to wage war with the devil but look very carefuly the last verse says “Pray” Wow awesome, the scriptures is being fullfill in the last days God is in control in the midst of Chasos, amin I’m sure your prayers will be answered..Jesus bless you all

I have read Pastor Peter Youngren’s “My Muslim Friends” and I really appreciate what Pastor Peter teaches.
It really hurts me as a believer when I hear so much prejudice towards others especially when it comes from other professing believers. God loves the whole world, everybody. Christ died for all. We as the church should be the ones bringing and showing God’s love for this broken world we live in, not causing more hurt. Praise God for those who do encourage and build others up helping to bring healing and restoration to those people who really need to know that God is truly a God of unconditional love and grace and mercy and that He is the hope of the nations that will bring to every hurting person that Jesus does heal, deliver, sets people free and restores our brokeness.

Norman, I’m not sure if this…” I would encourage folks to reread this blog and think about how Peter approaches this topic.”, was dirrected in my general direction or if it was just a general comment.  Which ever the case may be, I would like to say that I whole heartedly agree with Peters approach when talking with people of a different faiths.  In my opening few words of my initial comment I say the following is a slightly different perspective and as such; I was hoping to give readers of my comment some talking points on which to engage muslims while discussing this particular topic or the larger topic of defacing the quran and was not ment to be divisive or contentious.  I believe that it is important to understand wholly, or at least in part, what a person believes or thinks so that you can have an intellegent conversation with them and so be able to challenge them (in a good way) about what their religion/religous culture actually says and how does that carry through in the day to day interaction with others.  After all, if you show an interest in what they believe and can ask good questions about their belief system, then they are more likly to take what you say about Jesus much more seriously.  If you ask a question of them,(and actully listen to the reponse) that opens the door for them to ask about you believe.

It’s been over 3 years now,  the more I distance my self from organized religion and the more I’m realizing that what we believe & sin ( the obsession of Christianity) et al, are Not problems to God at all. Yet, Christianity makes a mega deal out of these things. I think the problem we have in this world stems from a lack of Love. God is Love (1 John 4:8)  Brotherhood keeps mankind as one. We are all One as we all are originated from Him. And I do believe that, when the masses get this astounding revelation that we are one with God and with oneanother ~ it is going to be the beginning of World Peace &  the end of Us vs Them, and sectarianism mentality.

jones should know that islam and christianity are the largest religious groups in the world and therefore quran burning might create enemity between the two religious groups.every person should respect one anothers religion.

While I don’t think it wise to burn the Koran, I think it’s pretty odd that we don’t seem to mind that Bibles & churches are burned and real live people (Christians) are killed in Muslim countries all the time.
Things are a little out of balance don’t you think?

We are nobody to hate either muslims or koran.  We have been told to love our neighbours.  Let us follow the dictum in letter and in spirit.  Militancy does not go with the followers of Jesus Christ.  They are a peace-loving humble lot.  Muslims are our brothers through our Father Abraham.  Let us love them and win them for redeemer Jesus Christ.

I am glad Terry Jones decided not to burn the Quran. I think the issue with the Muslims is similar to the situation Paul encountered in Ephesus (Acts 19) with those who worshipped Artemis. People who follow a different belief system are threatened and often become angry and sometimes violent when their beliefs are challenged. It was said about Paul ” they have neither robbed temples nor blasphemed our goddess.” While people’s beliefs may unfortunately take them to hell and we do want them to be saved instead, we still have to be respectful and need to pray for wisdom how to reach them with the truth.
